Ladungsleger auf Fahrgestell Pz.Kpf.W. VI Ausf. A Tiger

(According to some Bergepanzer auf Fahrgestell Pz.Kpf.W. VI Ausf. A „Bergetiger“)

This is a Tiger I, which was damaged at Anzio, and was rebuilt by s.Pz.Abt. 508 between 1st and 5th of March 1944. The gun was removed and replaced by a 10t lifting crane with a winch. The reconstruction is believed to be unfinished.

According to reports of 14. Armee at this point s.Pz.Abt. 508 was working on a mine clearing device with the ability to lay charges.

As we know the known vehicle might have been unfinished it can be assumed that the mine clearing devices were not mounted yet. It is therefore likely that both are one and the same vehicle.

The tank is nevertheless more often named a Bergetiger. This is due to the fact that British troops capturing the vehicle called it a recovery Tiger with crane.
